May 07, Suleman rated it really liked it Shelves: This book itself doesn’t have a particular centralized plot rather than that it revolves around the evolution of characters. If you are interested in subcontinent literature, if you want to read something that is more about the people than the journey itself then this book is a must read. The study of the characters is ridiculously deep. Jun 09, Ali rated it really liked it.

This novel narrates about the different aspects of a generation. Depiction of village has made me speechless. It took me a bit long to read it because I read and re-read and re-read over and over again, at times a page, a passage or even a line and got spellbound! But you can expect that when the story spans over almost 40 years. I really got no idea that what’s it all about? I stayed mesmerized for many days after reading this novel. It’s certainly one of the better Urdu novels, but I wa It started very well, the details of every scene were udas naslain by abdullah hussain good and you can feel to be a part of it.
The book is no doubt exceptional in many ways.
Amazing, it touched my heart. Writing style of Abdullah Husssain was somewhere blunt and sometimes encoded. There are passages in this uxas that i read and re-read again and again and there are some that I am planning to re-visit and enjoy some splendid moments of realistic fiction. Probably, the best Urdu novel and undoubtedly the finest book on indopak partition. This one is a must read! Very absolute depiction of that era after Indian rebellion of that even in some scenes it was usas to the minor details of how Hindu, Muslim were living together in that era, how was their daily life, having no thought of getting a separate land. Many that I reread and won’t forget.

I really wanted to know more about Azra. Aug 11, Yusra Hussain rated it liked it. I couldn’t relate to the characters but the emotion of being human was very well captured and the narrative was quite haunting. I don’t necessarily agree with all of the author’s ideas and views, however, this book is by all good standards an immense literary achievement. I have mixed feelings about this book, there were sparks of genius here and there and paragraphs which I immensely enjoyed but then there were long stretches of plain boring narrative.
Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. May be because i have a very strong notion that i am still unable to read between the lines. A udas naslain by abdullah hussain full of small tragedies in a single man story, you will need a large gut and patience to read this book because there is too much scene creation and depression created in every aspect of this book.
